India, the world’s most populous country, is a major economic and political power in South Asia. Known for its vast linguistic, cultural, and geographic diversity, India has a rich history that spans thousands of years, with deep-rooted traditions in philosophy, science, art, and religion. Its large population and vast history mark its economic and cultural importance.
While India’s civilization can be traced to the Harrapan era, that is, 1400 BCE, its modern political boundaries were established in 1947 when it gained independence from British rule. It is now a federal parliamentary democracy with 28 states and 8 union territories, with New Delhi as its capital. India has a democratic system with a multiparty political landscape, with the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party being the two dominant national parties.
As one of the fastest-growing major economies, India is a global hub for technology, manufacturing, and services, while also being an agrarian powerhouse. It is a nuclear-armed state and plays a key role in regional and global geopolitics, maintaining strategic partnerships with various nations.
India is one of the most ethnically and religiously diverse countries in the world, home to multiple religions, sects, castes, and tribes. It has more than ten-thousand languages and hundreds of regional dialects, with Hindi and English serving as the two of the 22 official languages. Despite economic progress, India faces challenges such as poverty, unemployment, and environmental concerns, alongside managing its complex social fabric and regional disparities.
What a polite way of saying:
India has been defeated in Afghanistan & Pakistan has won !!!
A serious question. To how many locks does India now hold a key.
That Pakistan would play an important role in helping the war in Afghanistan to be brought to a graceful close was known to all, for a very long time. That itself was a powerful reason not to pursue the policy of seeking to “ isolate “ Pakistan, which has led Indian foreign policy into such an arid cul de sac in recent years.
There is no “graceful” close to the conflict in Afghanistan and certainly not if Pakistan has its way. Nothing “graceful” about Pakistan’s involvements in its neighbors. Read Steve Coll (Ghost Wars, Directorate S), Myra McDonald (Defeat is an Orphan) and other such works if you think my statement is typical Indian anti-Pakistan sentiment. Just because Indian efforts at “isolating Pakistan” (more like getting others to see Pakistan in its true light – as the mother lode of instability) have not be successful doesn’t make those efforts wrong. You are wrong on multiple counts.
Let us not gloss over the fact that we supported the Russian invasion of Afghanistan and that gave rise to creation of Taliban. We and Russians are the villains here, not the Taliban.
Sure India doesn’t want to be like in begani shadi me Abdullah deewana. Else India will be hold by neck and shown the exit.
Any body who knows MR Modi will certainly have found that he is a man on a mission and he would rather not take anything lied down that time is over for him he is a man continuously in a action mode china and Pakistan have found that and before trump also got to know when he went ahead while signing S400 it would be wise of Afghans to understand this quickly and also for Indian journalists
The message is that although India is a superpower in south Asia, India is not a big player in the current Afghanistan issue.
