China flaunted military might & modernisation as it displayed stealth drones, anti-satellite system & cyber warfare contingent during parade to mark victory over Japan in WWII.
From Munir’s point of view, a few bumps here and there is par for the course. He isn’t going to drive his dumper truck to its doom. He wants to use it as a weapon.
Reservation should have a time limit otherwise it can become the biggest bane of society. Anuradha Tiwari is angry with the modern reservation system in education and jobs. But she should very well consider the oldest reservation system of priesthood in temples. In fact before the British came, education was limited only for Brahmins and certain high-castes.
Very very good move, Maam, we are with you.
I was waiting someone to take initiative for this. Now it is time for brahmins to raise their voice against give partiality and favourism for sc/st and obc people. We need a separate political party to counter govt. Move against upper caste people and students also. False claim that only upper caste are torturing them but the reality is that the lower caste are lodging false case against upper caste under the aegeis of sc/st act
Uppercast persons like Anuradha should very well be made aware that the first reservation was done in priesthood in temples where only Brahmins can be priests. That reservation system is still followed. Does she think about how that reservation hurt over ninety percent of population?
The author has accomplished quite a feat: reporting information genuinely while trying to fit it into accepted boxes of centre-left leaning journalism.
1. Assertion of privilege: Where is privilege while being son/daughter of poor security guard or farmer?
2. Is feminism the remit of only those who subscribe to Ambedkarite beliefs.
3. When other castes can take pride in their community’s icons cant forward castes identify their own like Vivekananada to propel their own dreams and work towards them with honesty and hard work.
4. When individuals face setbacks due to caste based reservation policies, is their so-called privilege buoying their lives ?
Policies that promote equity and sensitization of injustice are welcome. But if they reinforce traditional divisions and create new injustices, the least we can do is give them a free hearing with an open mind, rather than dismissing them as as ‘The mobilisation of the privileged’.
3 % Brahmins should not get 3 % of anything in the country – the only way to break the caste system in the country is to marginalize the Brahmins – they are the real minority in the country and they must be shown their place – only then would the country progress and scientific temperament set into the society over time.
While I disagree with the Government’s decision of including caste in the census, it is for different reasons than those espoused by people like Ms. Tiwari. I am personally interested in Hindu unity. Our tendency to excessively focus on caste, however, stems in part from the reservation policies in force across India. Though inadvertently, these policies provide groups with a perverse incentive to identify as backward. I have watched with dismay as my own community, i.e., the Jats, and others like it have agitated for OBC status. Personally, I have never benefitted from reservations and don’t feel backward as compared to any so called “upper” caste person. Yes, I did not make it in India, so I worked hard to go overseas, specifically to the U.S., do a PhD, and am now working there as a college professor. It is part of the Hindu creed to do one’s karma and improve one’s situation over time. I don’t know what the future holds for Hindus/India, but I wish that the OBC category is abolished. Reservation, in my opinion, is only justified now for SC, ST, and EWS categories. Everyone else should just compete and see how much of a “Brahmin” or whatever else they actually are.
