Very nice article, thank you. Thanks again!
Very timely article. Nursery admissions are going on in Delhi. I hope you also give some attention to the sheer feudal manner in which Delhi public schools cherry pick the students. Giving you alumani points, sibling points and points on All India Service or professionals parents. No newspaper or electronic media can dare to write critically against this system. When Delhi govt. or learned LG (Mr. Najeeb Jung) intervened by abolishing all these points by introducing only distance points, the High Court of Delhi came to the rescue of these schools. And look !!! what is their defence. Where will the poor go ?
It reminds me one scene from ‘Jane Bhi do yaro’. Tarneja explains round figure to Commissioner De Melo for adding few more floors to his highrise. Commissioner retorts, ” Only those builders can add floors who are surrounded by slums. And you are not. Tarneja explains, They are not visible from here Commissioner. When you reach 25 th floor you will see we are surrounded by slums !!!
PS : I failed securing admission of my son in “branded” school because of my HMT background.
