Popularity of Pakistan movement was reflected in the results of general elections of 1945-46 wherein Jinnah’s Muslim Leauge won 100% of muslims majority seats of India, on several seats Congress which contested election on the plank of a unified secular India, even lost deposit. So one third of Muslims of India whole heartedly supported Pakistan movement and then shamelessy stayed back because it was too inconvenient to move.
The idea of writing above facts is not hold anyone responsible for partition of India but to make author aware about the history. Now India should ofcourse exist as a peaceful secular country where all communities can live without any intimidation and discrimination

The idea of india prior to independence existed in its princely states and is not a product of any republican project. The fact that 500 plus princely states readily agreed to merge to form one dominion itself is a pointer to the underlying unity that existed among its people. What was that underlying unity? For a start, we can definitely rule out the influence of Foreginers as any cause of unity. That includes not just Britishers but also genocidal influence of Islam. Throughout the history of india, islam has only stood as a symbol of violence and barbarity, of inhuman values to the natives of this country. The unity that existed prior to indpendnece was that of culture, cuisine and ofcourse religion. Right from the mentions in Ramayana and Mahabharatha to the travelogues of Adi Shankara and other philosophers, there has been incessant references to people travelling the length and breadth of this country in search of spiritual knowledge, holy places and seeking fellow travellers who are willing to traverse the journey of discovery of God. Whether a Trivandrum housing a glorious Vishnu Temple or a Rameshwaram hosting Sri Rama as its esteemed guest the country had always remained one spiritually and religiously.
