After its 1977 – 2011 stint in Bengal, there are few signs that it will return to office. Tripura, one way or another, is a small state. It takes up useful causes. The long march of farmers, including Adivasis, from Nasik to Bombay, is what meaningful politics should be about. If Prakash Karat makes way unreservedly for Sitaram Yechury, that would be good for the future of the movement. The Left should have made better use of its numbers during UPA I. First it blocked economic reform, then it almost brought down the government.
