The number of active COVID-19 cases has increased to 1,76,319, accounting for 1.58% of the total caseload, according to data released by the Health Ministry.
Of the total new cases in Maharashtra everyday, about 40% are from Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur & Amravati district. Amravati is most worrying with its test positivity rate at 23-24%.
According to the Union Health Ministry data updated Tuesday, India's total tally of COVID-19 cases surged to 1.1 crore, while the recoveries have crossed 1.07 crore.
The recoveries surged to 1,06,78,048, which translates to a national recovery rate of 97.27 per cent and the case fatality rate stands at 1.42 per cent.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,05,48,521, pushing the national Covid recovery rate to 97.25%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.43%.
