Superb article! I loved the ‘tum mere liye mar chuke ho’ reference. It is exactly what my ‘more liberal and secular’ friends sound like. I feel also that this dispensation is more reflective of the ideas that common people have.
In fact, it is the Gandhis who represent the lofty ideals which suited booted highly educated people gleaned in western europe (as I did too!). However, the majority of Indians are cheering on, Ram Ram! Someday, there will be many more highly educated people who demand more sensitivity and equity for minorities, over and above equality. Until that day, Modi or his ilk will stay in power.
