The response to BJP president Amit Shah’s roadshow in Amethi indicated that Congress chief Rahul Gandhi is facing a battle against union minister Smriti Irani.
With Congress president Rahul Gandhi busy touring other states, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been handling the campaign in Amethi and Rae Bareli, Sonia Gandhi's seat.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the general secretary for Congress party's east UP wing, took to the streets of Amethi to garner votes for brother Rahul who is seeking a re-election.

Smriti Irani is a action oriented doer, who is articulate, politically sharp and has come up the ranks by her hard work. Rahul Gandhi has none of these traits and for all his talk and promises and despite the power he wielded, could not reform is slumbering party! He has no touch with the mases and surrounds himself with a coterie which is exactly like him. People of India reward people who do work for them. Smriti has done a lot of work in Amethi and I for one will not be surprised if she defeats him with a large margin.
Oh By the way, the people of Gujarat did vote, not one but atleast 3 times a Sindhi born in originally in what is now Pakisthan, and dis his law in Mumbai and then spent most his political career in the North of India! If you still have not guessed it, I refer to LK Advani

And by the way, Iraniji almost threatened to go on fast for removal of Modiji as Gujarat CM. It is different now she is punished to praise boss. BJP now is what it was when Atalji gave up power just for the sake of one vote.
In a straight one on one, an upset is possible. Hence the decision to contest from Waynad as well. However, for all the recent bitterness, the Mahagatbandhan is throwing its weight behind the Congress, living up to its initial, unilateral decision to concede Amethi and Rae Bareilly. Expect a slender margin, perhaps no more than the last time.
