An NIA judge held that there was no ‘incitement’ to damage property or obstruct public officials to categorise Gogoi’s actions as punishable under UAPA.
Gogoi, an MLA and president of the Raijor Dal, was earlier granted bail in the original case filed at a police station in upper Assam, which was later transferred to the NIA.
Akhil Gogoi, a prominent activist in the state, did not even campaign as he has been jailed since 2019 on sedition and UAPA charges over protests against CAA.
