Until now, units operating even in recognised industrial areas needed a separate factory licence. The move is expected to especially give a boost to small and medium enterprises.
As Narendra Modi becomes India’s second-longest consecutively serving Prime Minister, we look at how he compares with Indira Gandhi across four key dimensions.
Shashi Tharoor pins hopes on the leadership of Raga , he had al the powers needed to revamp the moribund party even as VP, almost a month has passed, so far no indication of his intentions. Gujrat results are being cited as his maturing leadership, why not quote Himachal results along with ? Gujrat is a complex situation, the Patel and dalit movements helped Congress to post some gains, yet the vote percentage difference between BJP and congress remains almost as previous. Too much credit is being given to Raga, though admittedly he has become a little more agressive, but his style of blaming BJP and RSS is bound to look repetitive and boring .
Mr Tharoor’s analysis is more or less on agreeable lines. But a few points that should have merited mention especially.
The farmers have been extreemely distressed. And they expressed their distress quite openly, particularly in Maharastra, but at other places too.
Farmers have thrown their produce on the roads at more than one place and farmers producing various grains and tomatoes too. One main grievance was NOT getting rasonable price for their produce, The governments at the State level as also the Union govt. have failed miserably in standing by the farmers.Secondly, the cost of living has steeply increased. The governments failed to control the prices. The problem of unemployment has been felt severely in both rural and urban areas. Steps taken by the governents were far from mitigating it, leave alone solving it.Modiji’s promise during election propaganda in 2014 —– of providing crores of jobs, which had mesmerised the youth then—–remained grossly unfulfilled. Thus, the common man’s demand for ROJI, ROTI AUR MAKAN remained unfulfilled. The Opposition has been not so successful in turning this dissatisfaction and disaffection into credible movements to bring pressure on the Administration. Recently, there is some action on this front. There is some action to bring the various Opposition parties and groups together to organise the people. Only a joint and united movement can do it.People do expect the Opposition, particularly the LEFT PARTIES, to take the lead. Let us hope the Left will be successful in mobilising the Opposition parties and groups on a joint platform, basing on certain minimum demands. THIS IS THE MOST ESSENTIAL AND URGENT TASK BEFORE THEM. In this connection, I think Sri Gopalkrishna Gandhi’s words from his article ” On another New Year’s Day ” may be appopriate to quote.
” ___it seems quite clear that after four years cowering, the right to quesion is reviving in India. The democratic opposition is more confident than before of overcoming the fume of fear that had all but checked it.The emphatic improvement in the Congress’ s seeats share in Gujarat is a sign that the FOURTH KHORAK —-THE RIGHT TO QUESTION—- ( HE HAD REFERRED TO MOHANDAS K. GANDHI’S RIGHTS to KHORAKS ESSENTIAL FOR LIFE, VZ, AIR, WATER AND GRAINS) can make our democracy breathe the HAWA of SWARAJ again. I see 2018 confronting the behemoth of majoritarianism with increasing success.
The PIL ( public interest litigation ) and RTI ( righ to information ) methods, combining with electoral
turnarounds, can well make 2018 lead to 2019 becoming the kind of year 1919 was —– a year when India,
Hindu and Muslim together, gave the British Raj a taste of India’s Swaraj.
Mr Tharoor…please leave politic behind and help poor in India.Tour through villages and pierce the crystal ball to gaze and realize what in it.
Dirty defensive ploitics never feed the need.
