Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Apr 2 (PTI) Second seeded Zeel Desai, wildcard Madhurima Sawant and unseeded Jennifer Luikham on Thursday qualified for the quarterfinals of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Open Endurance here.

Madhurima defeated Yashaswini Panwar 6-3, 7-6 (1) in a closely fought encounter between the wildcard entrants, while Jennifer recorded a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sonal Patil.

Zeel, on her part, got the better of Amodini Naik 6-2, 6-0.

The top seeded Zhibek Kulambayeva of Kazakhstan registered a commanding 6-4, 6-0 win over India’s Saumya Ronde to move into the quarterfinals.

The sixth seeded Ksenia Laskutova also advanced after defeating Harshini N Nagaraj 6-1, 7-5, while fourth seeded Elina Nepliy cruised past Sevil Yuldasheva of Uzbekistan 6-1, 6-2.

Denmark’s seventh seed Elena Jamshidi was made to work hard by Sandeepti Singh Rao as she won 6-4, 7-5.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Tea Kovacevic beat Russia’s Ekaterina Yashina 6-3, 6-0 to make her spot in the final eight.

In the doubles, the top-seeded pair of Zhibek Kulambayeva and Ekaterina Yashina advanced to the next round.

The third seeds Anastasiya Kuparev (Germany) and Sevil Yuldasheva (Uzbekistan) also progressed, along with Indian duo of Saumya Ronde and Chevika Reddy Sama, who defeated Yashaswini Panwar and Saumya Vig 6-4, 6-4.
