PARIS (Reuters) – France’s Kevin Mayer, a two-time Olympic silver medallist in decathlon, crashed heavily during the 110-metre hurdles leg of a triathlon at the Paris Diamond League on Sunday.

Decathlon world record holder and two-time world champion Mayer, who was second at the Rio and Tokyo Games, fell after the eighth hurdle with a possible thigh problem and was seen crying on the Stade Charlety track.

The Paris 2024 Olympics start on July 26, with the first decathlon leg scheduled for Aug. 2.
