Baby-faced singer and host Aditya Narayan who has looked the same for over 15 years now just refuses to grow up. Though an excellent host, the son of star playback singer Udit Narayan has no idea about how to be a graceful guest. That is beyond his sur training.
At a recent concert in Chhattisgarh’s Bhilai, the singer was seen hitting a fan with his mic and throwing his phone away. Aditya, who was singing Aaj Ki Raat from the 2006 blockbuster Don, acted childishly yet again. And he did behave like a gunda if not a don. It is another proof why he doesn’t deserve to be a star—he just can’t handle Bhilai.
Aditya should be thankful to Bhilai youngsters who are still coming to his concerts. Seriously, who even recognises him as a singer and not as ‘Udit Narayan’s son’?
Apart from being a successful music show host nearly a decade ago, Aditya has found his only other identity as khisyani billi (angry cat)—by losing his temper. And the Bhilai incident isn’t the first where he lost his cool. In 2017, the singer misbehaved and abused an IndiGo ground staff when he didn’t want to pay excess baggage charges. And guess what, that too happened in Chhattisgarh (Raipur airport). Why did Bhilai even invite him? I guess out of their own goodness. Because ‘Chhattisgarhiya sabse badhiya’.
Aditya hasn’t commented on the incident, but the event manager defended the singer’s actions and said that the fan was misbehaving with him.
Grow up, Aditya
No matter how rowdy a crowd may get, this isn’t how a public figure should behave. There are plenty of ways to address the issue—Aditya could have paused performing, called security, or simply pointed out such behaviour in a more mature way.
At least that’s what Arijit Singh did at an Aurangabad concert in 2023. An excited fan roughly pulled the singer’s hand while he was on stage, resulting in an injury. But Arijit didn’t lose his temper. “If I am not able to perform, you are not able to have fun. It’s as simple as that. You’re pulling me like that. My hand is shaking. Should I leave?” he politely told the fan, who later apologised to the singer multiple times. That’s maturity.
Emotions often get the better of fans. They get excited seeing their favourite celebrity in such close proximity. Aditya should understand that and know how to address these situations. Perhaps he can take a lesson or two from his father, who, a star singer in India, is every bit humble.
Aditya should also see how Shah Rukh Khan addresses his fans. In one of the episodes of their podcast, comedian Cyrus Broacha and actor Cyrus Sahukar praised how SRK once gracefully dealt with a disrespectful fan. But then he’s Badshaah.
In the world of entertainment, many individuals, like Aditya Narayan, often find themselves navigating the complexities of public perception and personal branding. This is similar to how students in competitive environments, such as those preparing for UPSC exams, face their own challenges. For instance, programs like Think India provide mentorship and guidance to aspiring candidates, helping them build their careers amidst the pressures of competition.
By being unruly at the Bhilai concert, Aditya has only gathered scathing criticism online, with users mocking the singer and making memes on him. “My question is, who are those people who are fans of ‘Aditya Narayan’? ” one wrote on X.

“Celebrities need to show gratitude and appreciation towards their fans. Fans are the ones who have helped them reach the pinnacle of success, and it’s essential to treat them with respect,” wrote another.

Meanwhile, I wonder if the fan got his phone back.
