The selected cartoons appeared first in other publications, either in print or online, or on social media, and are credited appropriately.

In today’s featured cartoon, Sandeep Adhwaryu refers to the controvery surrounding Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan’s arrest in which ex-NCB director Sameer Wankhede has been summoned for allegedly asking for Rs 25 crore bribe to “settle the case”. Wankhede arrested Aryan Khan in a drugs case in 2021. Adhwaryu mocks at the breathless way the media had covered the case.

Nala Ponnappa| Twitter/@PonnappaCartoon

Nala Ponnappa hints at the supposed role Congress leader Sonia Gandhi may have played in breaking the logjam over the chief minister’s chair in Karnataka. He plays on the word “mother” since state party chief D.K. Shivakumar called the party his mother. “This is Rahul’s mom…,” says the voice floating out of a tri-coloured walkie-talkie as DKS covers his ears with his hands in the cartoon.

Satish Acharya|Twitter/@satishacharya

Satish Acharya gives his satirical take on the Congress’s delay in deciding on its chief minister — comparing it with the Met department’s recent prediction that monsoon would be slightly delayed this year.

E P Unny| The Indian Express

E.P. Unny’s cartoon also alludes to the five-day parlaying before the Congress chose Siddaramaiah as Karnataka’s chief minister.

Kirtish Bhatt| Twitter/@Kirtishbhat

Kirtish Bhatt talks about how relentless mobile scrolling has taken a toll on people’s health. The cartoon shows a doctor telling his patient on World Hypertension Day (17 May) that his blood pressure would become normal if he gave up WhatsApping.
