In today’s featured cartoon, Manjul shows the Gandhi siblings Rahul and Priyanka in tears over the crisis the Congress faces in Punjab, after Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignations as CM and party chief respectively. They are depicted as missing the ‘most admirable Sikh Congressman’, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who never gave the high command such headaches.

Sandeep Adhwaryu | The Times of India

Sandeep Adhwaryu points to RSS-linked weekly Panchjanya‘s description of Amazon as ‘East India Company 2.0‘, and links it to divisions in society by pointing to the violence in Assam’s Darrang district on 23 September. The reference is to the divisions in Indian society when the East India Company came calling, which allowed it to build an empire.

R. Prasad | Economic Times

R. Prasad refers to the new ‘captain’ of Punjab — Charanjit Singh Channi — who seems to be playing a different game to Navjot Singh Sidhu. After Sidhu resigned as Punjab Congress chief, Channi urged the former cricketer to discuss the matter and iron out the differences.

E.P. Unny | The Indian Express

E.P. Unny takes a dig at de-facto Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and highlights the party’s failed strategies in Punjab, where assembly elections are due early next year. He also alludes to the Congress’ disarray in UP, which means the party’s defeat in that state’s assembly elections at the same time is a foregone conclusion.
