The aftermath of the northeast elections continues to be the main theme of the cartoons of the day.

The lead cartoon by Satish Acharya shows how citizens of the northeast bought into the BJP’s promise of ‘achhe din‘. Surendra in The Hindu and Mansoor Naqvi poked fun at the helplessness of the parties voted out of power in Meghalaya and Tripura.

Alok Nirantar depicts Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi as ‘chowkidars’ (or watchmen) of their respective political parties, while votes and money get stolen. Jayanto in Hindustan Times shows the BSP’s poll symbol of an elephant cycling the path to the upcoming Uttar Pradesh bypoll on the Samajwadi Party’s election symbol of a cycle.
