Mumbai, Jul 24 (PTI) Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora on Friday said India’s youth want to be treated as partners in shaping the future and that education remains at the heart of those aspirations, amid massive protests demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Deora, whose party is a key ally of the ruling BJP, also welcomed activist Sonam Wangchuk’s decision to break his indefinite fast and hoped that it would mark the beginning of constructive engagement.
“India’s youth want to be treated as partners in shaping our future. Education remains at the heart of those aspirations,” the Rajya Sabha MP said in a social media post.
The youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has been demanding accountability over alleged examination irregularities, reforms in the education system and Pradhan’s resignation. Backing the protest, Wangchuk had launched his fast on June 28 at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The activist announced the end of his fast after Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh met him at Medanta Hospital in the national capital around Thursday midnight and assured him that his demands would be met.
“I welcome @Wangchuk66 ji’s decision to end his fast & hope this marks the beginning of constructive engagement,” Deora said.
Mumbai has also been witnessing protests in solidarity with the CJP-led agitation.
“On behalf of @Shivsenaofc, I am confident that the Government of India led by PM @narendramodi ji will continue strengthening safeguards so that exam paper leaks become a thing of the past.
“Our goal must be to build the world’s most trusted, transparent & robust education system that gives every student a fair chance to succeed,” Deora added, tagging his party head and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. PTI PR NR
