Puducherry, Apr 8 (PTI) Senior Congress leader V Narayanasamy on Wednesday said that he would quit politics if Union Home Minister Amit Shah could prove that he sold medical seats meant for SC, STs in Puducherry.

He said that he was ready for any enquiry, be it a judicial investigation, a probe by the Income Tax department or by CBI.

He was referring to the allegations the home minister had made during his recent poll campaigning in Puducherry.

According to the Congress leader, Shah had said that the Congress rule (between 2016 and 2021 headed by Narayanasamy) in Puducherry had sold medical seats meant for the SC and ST students and helped the grand old party use the union territory as its ATM to siphon off Rs 15,000 crore from here.

Narayanasamy in a video message said, “It was absolutely a baseless charge and the home minister’s intention was to tarnish the image of the Congress and also his.” He asked if Shah had any proof. “If the charge is proved, I am ready to quit politics. On the other hand, if the home minister does not prove the allegation, he should step down from the post”.

Narayanasamy also listed several “malpractices the NDA government had adopted” during its five-year rule in Puducherry.

He appealed to the people to ensure that the INDIA bloc comprising the Congress, the DMK and VCK returns to power after the April 9 polls and “people should drive away the NDA comprising the AINRC, BJP and its other constituents so that the future of the next generation will be safe and secure.” PTI COR KH
