Chennai, Jul 24 (PTI) A couple was arrested in Maduravoyal during a joint operation by West Bengal and local police in connection with an armed robbery, officials said.
The suspects, Aleem Khan (45) and Seema Khan (32), were apprehended while taking shelter at a relative’s house. They were wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Nandi village, West Bengal, a few months ago.
According to police sources, the breakthrough came after West Bengal police, who had previously detained other suspects in the same case, gathered intelligence pointing to the couple’s location in Maduravoyal.
A special team from West Bengal arrived in the city and enlisted the support of the Maduravoyal police, sources added.
After verifying the couple’s presence at the specified residence, the joint force raided the house and arrested the couple.
Following their apprehension, the duo was presented before a city magistrate and subsequently taken to West Bengal for further questioning. PTI JR KH
