Puducherry, Apr 2 (PTI) The VCK will contest a single seat in the upcoming assembly polls in Puducherry as part of the seat-sharing agreement, party General Secretary D Ravikumar said on Thursday.
MP Ravikumar told reporters here that the party, which is part of the Congress-led INDIA bloc in Puducherry, has decided to contest from the Uzhavarkarai assembly constituency for the April 9 polls.
He said VCK workers would work to ensure the victory of alliance partners in all the remaining 29 assembly constituencies in the Union Territory.
Initially, the VCK planned to contest in four segments — Nettapakkam, Oussudu, Uzhavarkarai and in Yanam. But, following parleys held between Congress general Secretary Mukul Wasnik and VCK chief Thol Tirumavalavan, the decision was scaled back. PTI COR ROH
