Palghar, Apr 25 (PTI) The Palghar district administration in Maharashtra on Saturday announced that it has acquired 62 hectares of land for the Vadhvan port project and distributed compensation to 261 landholders so far.
In an official release, the administration said that a package of Rs 2,300 crore has been finalised to benefit nearly 10,000 landholders affected by the project.
The government is prioritising the resolution of “Gola Survey” (block survey) issues, which have historically caused delays in the disbursement of compensation, it said.
The district administration has acquired 62 hectares (153.2 acres) for the deep-draft, all-weather greenfield port, it said.
Officials also cautioned farmers and traders against falling prey to intermediaries.
“The process of distribution of compensation is completely transparent and no separate commission or fee is required. The amount will be directly deposited into the personal bank accounts of the concerned persons after document submission,” the release said.
Beyond direct compensation, 20 special camps were organised in Dahanu and Palghar for heir registration, resulting in the settlement of 350 inheritance cases, said the release issued by Collector Indu Rani Jakhar.
The administration has appealed to all affected citizens to submit their documents to the Land Acquisition Officer or their respective talathi offices by next Monday to ensure speedy processing. PTI COR NR
