Chennai, June 13 (PTI) An upper air cyclonic circulation over north coastal Tamil Nadu is expected to bring heavy rains to several districts in the state.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre here, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds reaching speed upto 40-50 kmph is likely at isolated places over Salem, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Kanyakumari and ghat areas of Tirunelveli districts.
Accordingly, the maximum temperature is expected to drop by two degree celsius in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal areas.
The weather department said Neyyoor in Kanyakumari recorded the state’s highest rainfall at 11 cms during the last 24 hours, followed by Manjolai region in Tirunelveli district with 10 cm.
Driven by the intensifying south west monsoon and upper air cyclonic circulation, temperatures across the state district remain suppressed, with no district crossing 39 degrees celsius.
