Lucknow, Apr 21 (PTI) Banda recorded the highest temperature in Uttar Pradesh at a scorching 44.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, as most parts of the state reeled under intense heat with dry weather conditions prevailing, according to the Meteorological Department.

Several other places also reported high temperatures, with Sultanpur at 43.4 degrees Celsius, Prayagraj at 43.2 degrees Celsius, and Jhansi and Hardoi touching 42.5 degrees Celsius each. The state capital Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius, 1.1 degrees above normal.

The minimum temperatures across the state largely hovered in the mid-20s, with Hamirpur recording 27.2 degrees Celsius and Moradabad at 26.3 degrees Celsius. Lucknow registered a minimum of 23.6 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees above normal.

No rainfall was recorded in any part of the state during the period under review, the MeT department said.

According to the forecast for Wednesday, dry weather — making conditions feel hotter and more dehydrating — is expected to continue across Uttar Pradesh, with clear skies over Lucknow and adjoining areas.

Day temperatures in the capital are likely to hover around 42 degrees Celsius, while night temperatures may remain close to 24 degrees Celsius.

The department has warned that heatwave conditions are very likely at isolated places in the state during the daytime.

Relative humidity levels remained low, indicating dry and hot conditions prevailing across the region. PTI KIS MPL MPL
