Sultanpur (UP), May 7 (PTI) One person was killed and seven injured after an ambulance and an SUV collided head-on on the Purvanchal Expressway here on Thursday, police said.
The accident occurred near Birsinghpur under Jaisinghpur police station area when the SUV, travelling from Ghazipur to Lucknow, collided with the ambulance that was allegedly moving on the wrong side of the expressway to refuel at a petrol pump, they said.
Bhola Prakash (36), a resident of the Mau district who was travelling in the ambulance, sustained serious injuries. He was taken to the government hospital in Birsinghpur by another ambulance, where he died during treatment. The ambulance driver was admitted to the government hospital in Kurebhar.
Six members of a family travelling in the SUV were also injured and admitted to the government hospital in Dostpur, where they are undergoing treatment, the police said.
