Lucknow, Apr 9 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi conducted an aerial survey of several districts of the state on Thursday to assess the crop damage caused by unseasonal rains and strong winds, officials said.
According to a press statement, the survey was carried out on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directions and covered Barabanki, Ayodhya, Ambedkarnagar, Azamgarh, Amethi, Sultanpur, Fatehpur, Unnao and Lucknow, which are among the worst-hit districts.
According to officials, the state government has initiated swift measures to evaluate the extent of crop losses due to adverse weather conditions, including the heavy rains, gusty winds and cyclonic activity witnessed earlier this week.
Pathak and Shahi assured farmers that the government stands by them and would extend all possible assistance, including financial aid, to mitigate their losses.
They said the district officials have been directed to carry out detailed and accurate surveys of damaged crops to ensure prompt relief to the affected farmers.
Following the aerial survey, review meetings were held in Azamgarh and Fatehpur, attended by district magistrates, chief development officers, deputy directors of agriculture and other officials.
During the meetings, the progress of crop-damage assessment was reviewed and officials were instructed to expedite the survey process and submit comprehensive reports at the earliest to facilitate timely disbursal of relief funds. PTI CDN RC
