New Delhi: Grosvenor and East India Hotels announced Thursday that upscale Mayfair in London will be home to the Indian luxury hospitality group’s first Oberoi Hotel in the UK.

The property group Grosvenor secured planning permission to restore a 33,000 square feet listed building in 2022, as part of its wider South Molton development in the Mayfair area.

This project, currently the West End’s largest mixed-use development, will include the hotel, new office space, housing, cafes, shops, restaurants, community and leisure spaces, all set within a rejuvenated public realm.

Rachel Dickie, the Executive Director of Investment and Development, Grosvenor, said they were thrilled to have such a “fantastic anchor” for the project.

Arjun Oberoi, Executive Chairman of The Oberoi Group, said their partnership with Grosvenor was an important milestone in their international growth. “The Oberoi, Mayfair, will not only be a celebration of our brand at a prime location, but also an opportunity to showcase our service excellence,” he said.

Managing Director and CEO Vikram Oberoi said the project marked a “pivotal moment” for the brand’s global journey.

JLL acted for Grosvenor, and EIH London Investments Ltd was advised by Johnny Sandelson.
