Thrissur (Kerala), Jul 3 (PTI) Two persons went missing after a boat carrying five people capsized in a paddy field at Nedupuzha here on Friday, fire force officials said.

The incident occurred around 8 pm at Mallithara Kadavu, near Nedupuzha, when the group was travelling to a leased paddy field to feed the fish being reared there, officials said.

According to Fire and Rescue Service officials, the boat capsized midway through the waterlogged paddy field.

Three persons managed to swim to safety, while two others went missing.

Soon, Fire and Rescue Services personnel arrived at the place and launched a search operation to locate the missing persons.

Heavy rain, poor visibility and adverse weather conditions were hampering the rescue operation, officials said.

Officials said that the paddy field had been leased to a person for fish farming.

Police have also launched a probe into the incident, officials added. PTI TBA TBA KH
