New Delhi: Among reactions that poured in on social media over the Russian invasion of Ukraine Thursday, there were some that were especially directed at an Indian astrologer.

Anirudh Kumar Mishra — known for his predictions on social media — had tweeted sometime in January that there would be “no war between Russia and Ukraine”.

Hours after the military attack on Ukrainian territory, his ‘failed prediction’ was met with responses and mockery by social media users.

But Mishra said his prediction only meant there won’t be large-scale warfare between Russia and Ukraine.

“The area surrounding Russia-Ukraine is under the influence of Mars (mangal). This crisis is a fight between two neighbouring nations and it will not lead to a third World War. There won’t be mass killings. And peace will prevail as and when Mars’ influence over the area diminishes,” he told ThePrint.

He also said, “Unlike humans, countries do not have birth charts. We make predictions based on question charts.”

Known for his predictions on politics, Mishra had recently also tweeted that the BJP will secure at least 236 seats in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

The astrologer had last year, however, made clear that his predictions are not influenced by his political leanings. That he makes them “after thoroughly studying charts”.

Accurate predictions

Mishra, with close to one lakh followers on Twitter, has become popular over the years for some of his accurate predictions, including celebrity pregnancies and military strategy.

One of his most prominent predictions had been the long-awaited Supreme Court verdict on the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Mishra had in 2017 predicted that the construction of the temple would be completed in “two years and three months’ time”.

The SC verdict in 2019 had stated that the site be handed over to a trust, which the government was directed to constitute within three months.

Also in 2017, he had predicted that by October 2020, Article 370 will be scrapped from Jammu and Kashmir.

In August 2020, he predicted the births of actors Anushka Sharma and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s children.
