Gurugram, May 7 (PTI) A land records official and a retired armyman were among three killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a car on the single-lane Pachgaon-Jamalpur road here in the Bilaspur area, police said on Thursday.

The truck driver left his vehicle at the spot and fled after the accident on Wednesday late evening. Police lodged an FIR at Bilaspur police station and seized the truck, they added.

According to the police, the deceased were identified as 40-year-old Kuldeep, 68-year-old Naval Singh, and 70-year-old Samay Singh, residents of Pukharpur village. Kuldeep was a patwari at HSIIDC, Naval Singh was a retired armyman, while Samay Singh was a farmer.

The three men went to Jamalpur on Wednesday afternoon for some work. They were returning to Pukharpur village by car late evening when their speeding car collided with an oncoming truck near Mokalwas village on the Pachgaon-Jamalpur road. Kuldeep was driving the car, police said.

In the accident, the car was completely destroyed by the severe impact. All three occupants were trapped inside the vehicle. Bystanders alerted the police, extricated everyone from the vehicle and rushed them to the nearest hospital where doctors declared them dead. The truck driver fled the scene.

Police said that the investigation revealed that the truck was registered in the state of Daman and Diu. The driver had arrived in Bilaspur with a loaded cargo.

“The bodies were sent to the mortuary for post-mortem which will be conducted today. We are trying to nab the truck driver,” a senior police officer said. PTI COR SKY SKY
