Indore, May 7 (PTI) The Lokayukta police in Madhya Pradesh’s Barwani district nabbed three government medical officers on Thursday for allegedly accepting commission of Rs 25,000 to refer patients to a private pathology laboratory, an official said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Talan identified the three, posted at the Community Health Centre in Rajpur town, as Dr Amit Shakya, Dr Divya Sai and Dr Manohar Godara. The three were caught at their homes while allegedly accepting the commission amount, he added.
“The action followed a trap laid on the complaint of Adnan Ali, manager of a private pathology laboratory in Rajpur. The complainant claimed the three doctors took 20 per cent commission from him for referring patients visiting the Community Health Centre to his laboratory for tests,” he said.
Shakya had demanded Rs 18,000, Sai Rs 8,000 and Godara Rs 21,800 as commission for the previous month, but they later agreed to accept lower amounts, the Deputy SP said, adding that Shakya was caught allegedly accepting Rs 8,000, Sai Rs 5,000 and Godara Rs 12,000.
The Lokayukta police registered a case under Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the three, who are yet to be arrested, he added. PTI HWP LAL BNM
