Hyderabad, Oct 2 (PTI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday launched the common pass that can be used both in Metro train services and RTC buses in the city.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that the common pass will make daily and monthly travel across Metro Rail and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) buses more accessible and convenient for citizens within the core urban areas.

He said that the government is committed to expanding metro services and ensuring that public transport remains affordable and inclusive for all sections of society, according to an official release.

Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that the introduction of the common pass is part of the government’s broader efforts to ease traffic congestion and bring public transport closer to the people.

He announced that the passes will be available at metro stations, with a daily pass priced at Rs 400 and a monthly pass at Rs 8,500.

To demonstrate the initiative, ministers will travel on October 3 using the newly launched common pass on both Metro Rail and TGSRTC buses.

During the ceremony, ministers and legislators purchased the passes and distributed them to select city commuters.

The event was attended by Labour and Employment Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy, Minority Welfare Minister Mohammad Azharuddin, Government Chief Whip Patnam Mahender Reddy, MLC Addanki Dayakar, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Hyderabad Metro Rail MD Sarfaraz Ahmed, TGSRTC MD Y Nagi Reddy, along with other senior officials, the release added.

Speaking on the occasion, Vikramarka said infrastructure development works worth Rs 52,000 crore are progressing rapidly in Hyderabad.

He said works worth Rs 35,000 crore have been taken up within the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) limits, including roads, flyovers and bridges.

The other works and development projects are being undertaken by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Hyderabad Water Works Board.

The government is moving ahead with a comprehensive plan to develop Hyderabad, keeping its future requirements in mind, he added. PTI VVK SJR ADB

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
