New Delhi, Apr 16 (PTI) A taxi caught fire in Delhi’s Azadpur flyover on Thursday, with the occupants, including a woman and her two children, escaping safely, officials of the Delhi Fire Services said.
According to an official statement, a PCR call regarding the incident was received at the Adarsh Nagar police station at around 1.10 pm.
The vehicle was found engulfed in flames near the flyover towards Model Town. However, firefighters brought the blaze under control after efforts, it said.
The occupants of the taxi, including the driver, a woman and her two children, managed to exit the vehicle safely, but their belongings remained inside, which were later retrieved by the authorities, the statement said.
Police personnel dispersed the crowd gathered at the spot to prevent any untoward incident and ensured public safety, it said.
Onlookers said the vehicle caught fire at around 12.40 pm, while the DFS said it received a call regarding the blaze at 1.10 pm. PTI SGV APL APL
