Mumbai: The makers of Amazon Prime Video series ‘Tandav’ on Monday apologised unconditionally after complaints that one of its episodes had hurt “Hindu sentiments.”

An official statement from the cast and crew of Tandav said, “We have been closely monitoring viewer reactions to the web series Tandav and today during a discussion, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting informed us regarding a large number of grievances and petitions received on various facets of the web series with serious concerns and apprehensions regarding its content hurting the sentiments of the people.

“Tandav is a work of fiction and any resemblance to acts and persons and events is purely coincidental. The cast and crew did not have any intention to offend the sentiments of any individual, caste, community, race, religion or religious beliefs or insult or outrage any institution, political party or person, living or dead.

“The cast and crew of Tandav take cognizance of the concerns expressed by the people and unconditionally apologize if it has unintentionally hurt anybodys sentiments,” the statement said.

  1. Oh really! Is it so simple? Do something deliberately based in your ideological or religious beliefs and then issue a bland “if I have hurt you, then I apologise (otherwise I don’t)” statement and get away with it? This is not Nehruvian India.

  2. Why do artists in India such as filmmakers, play writers, story writers, painters have constipated imagination? Can’t they think of any theme other than religious themes, that too only Hindu religious motifs? Why can’t they think of other entities in the societies such as man on the street, a workman in a factory, a street vendor, lawyers, university professors, celebrities, glitterati of society, politicians and their followers, most importantly the egomaniac journalists who want to address the CMs and PMs by name! Either this lot lacks creative imaginaition, or as alleged by the Hindu protagonists, they are bent upon poking fun and insulting Hinduism. Pick your choice.

  3. Indian should expect nothing less from the father of Taimur and his fellow compatriots in Tandav. These non-Indians are carrying Arabic-Turkic names and consistently attack Indian culture and values. 80% of India needs to expose its hypocrisy, and exercise its free speech against the Islamization of India. Let us see, how secular behavior will follow from these invaders.
