Gangtok, Apr 25 (PTI) BJP candidate Srijana Chettri was on Saturday declared elected from Diesel Power House (DPH) ward of Gangtok Municipal Corporation(GMC), according to the State Election Commission.
Chettri defeated Bindhya Cintury by 585 votes. She polled 899 votes, while Cintury got 384 votes.
The polling for the Diesel Power House (DPH) seat of GMC was held on Friday, and there were only two candidates in the fray.
In the other 20 wards of the GMC, the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) had won 18 seats and the BJP two seats unopposed as the election was boycotted by the opposition parties.
The Gangtok District Collection-Municipal Returning Officer, Tushar Nikhare, said that the swearing-in ceremony for the GMC and Singtam Nagar Panchayat will be held on May 2. PTI KDK RG
