New Delhi: A woman IAS officer has lodged an First Information Report (FIR) with the Delhi Police’s cyber unit against an unidentified person impersonating a government official to gain confidential information from her.

In the FIR, a copy of which is with ThePrint, the senior officer also mentioned that she was harassed and threatened by the accused for the last three-four weeks. The bureaucrat alleged that the accused also abused her using foul language.

After receiving the complaint, the cyber cell of the North district police lodged the FIR  Tuesday under Sections 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 473 (making or counterfeiting a seal, plate, etc., with intent to commit a forgery), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.

“I have been receiving WhatsApp calls and messages from a number XXXXXXXXX trying to get confidential information related to my department, threatening me and harassing me and using foul abusive language. When I confronted the person by saying that I shall be filing a police complaint, he replied that he is using a SIM card acquired using fake/false documents and so police would not be able to trace him. The said person also tried to impersonate as a senior government official when he talked to me,” the FIR reads.

The officer also alleged that the accused kept changing his name on WhatsApp in an attempt to impersonate someone else.

“The matter has been taken up, investigation is on,” a senior police officer told ThePrint.
