Gangtok, Apr 5 (PTI) Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur on Sunday interacted with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel at Chungthang in Mangan district.
“I have come here not just as a governor but as a friend to understand your challenges and to boost your morale in recognition of your courage and commitment,” he said.
Mathur praised the dedication, patience, and discipline of ITBP personnel stationed at Kerang Post at an altitude of 17,000 feet.
He said that the discipline and valour of the ITBP personnel and the women’s contingent are a source of inspiration for the entire nation and added that their role in securing border areas, especially North Sikkim, is invaluable.
He enquired about the diet, electricity, connectivity, and overall quality of life of the ITBP personnel, who expressed satisfaction with the facilities, saying that things have improved significantly over the past decade, particularly due to modern military equipment, better food, and digitisation.
Mathur also met the personnel of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) along the route and appreciated their contribution under adverse weather and conditions.
