Shivraj Singh Chouhan launches #Plant4Mother Campaign

The minister said that the Aim of the campaign is to raise awareness about the importance of trees in the country and to increase the number of saplings planted across the country.

New Delhi: The Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has successfully launched the #Plant4Mother campaign along with 800 other institutions under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development. The campaign will plant saplings in about one acre of land in the IARI Campus, PUSA, a PIB press release stated.

The minister said that the Aim of the campaign is to raise awareness about the importance of trees in the country and to increase the number of saplings planted across the country. The campaign is also part of the Global Campaign #Plant4Mother launched by the Prime Minister on the occasion of World Environment Day, June 5, 2024. The Union Minister requested all officers, employees, and school students present during the occasion to participate in the movement and pay their respect to their mothers and mother earth by planting trees.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change has planned to plant 80 crore saplings across the country by September 2024 and 140 crore saplings by March 2025. The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change has also started the tree plantation activity at the Asola Bhati Wildlife Sanctuary on June 20, 2024, in which trees were planted in honour of their mothers.
