Chennai, Apr 3 (PTI) TN BJP’s Coimbatore North candidate Vanathi Srinivasan said on Friday that DMK candidate V Senthil Balaji’s “corrupt money” will not influence voters in Coimbatore during the April 23 polls to the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
Balaji has shifted from his traditional stronghold of Karur to Coimbatore South in this Assembly election.
Speaking to PTI Videos, the BJP Mahila Morcha national president expressed confidence that Balaji’s shift from his traditional base in Karur to Coimbatore would not yield an easy victory for the DMK.
“Since they have a lot of corrupt money, they are thinking that they could buy the Coimbatore voters. Coimbatore has a different nature. They did not even support a superstar. That being the case, they definitely won’t support the criminal background (former) minister,” said Srinivasan.
In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Srinivasan won the Coimbatore South constituency in BJP ticket by defeating actor Kamal Haasan of the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM). PTI JR JR ADB
