Relief from heat as day-temperatures drop at most places in Haryana, Punjab

Chandigarh, Apr 28 (PTI) In a relief to the people from scorching heat, the maximum temperatures on Tuesday registered a drop after light rain with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds occurred at most places in Punjab and Haryana.

In Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, witnessed a light shower and the maximum temperature settled at 33.8 degrees Celsius, down by three notches against normal.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 34.1 degrees Celsius, down by nearly four notches against normal, according to the Met Office here.

Ludhiana recorded a high of 34 degrees Celsius, over four notches below normal, while Patiala recorded a high of 36.5 degrees Celsius, over a notch below normal.

Gurdaspur recorded a maximum of 31.5 degrees Celsius while Hoshiarpur, Ropar and Mohali recorded respective maximums of 32.5 degrees, 32.2 degrees and 33 degrees Celsius.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a maximum of 36.4 degrees Celsius, over a notch below normal.

Karnal, Bhiwani and Gurugram also recorded below normal maximums of 37 degrees Celsius, 38 degrees Celsius and 38 degrees Celsius, respectively.

However, Rohtak was the hottest place in the state, recording a high of 41.3 degrees Celsius. PTI SUN APL APL
