Pune, Jul 18 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday took a dig at Uddhav Thackeray after he offered prayers at a Ram temple in Nagpur as part of the ‘Ram Raksha’ protest, saying the Sena (UBT) president finally realised that “Jo Ram ka nahi, woh kisi kaam ka nahi”.
Reacting to Thackeray’s visit to the temple, Fadnavis said he hoped that the former chief minister’s recitation of Ram Raksha (a Sanskrit hymn dedicated in praise of Lord Ram) would not remain limited to a political exercise.
“First of all, I am happy that Uddhavji has finally realised ‘jo Ram ka nahi, woh kisi kaam ka nahi (one who is not with Lord Ram is of no use). Therefore, he has returned to Lord Ram, and I congratulate him for that,” Fadnavis told reporters in Pune.
The chief minister said he hopes Thackeray will read at least a little of the Ram Raksha and won’t make it merely a political programme.
Thackeray, along with his son Aaditya Thackeray, party MP Sanjay Raut, legislators and workers, offered prayers and performed aarti at the Ram temple in the Ram Nagar area late afternoon.
