Pathankot, Jul 22 (PTI) Two motorcyclists were killed and a woman seriously injured after a private bus rammed into two bikes on the Jammu-Pathankot stretch of National Highway-44 here on Wednesday, police said.
The incident sparked protests by some locals, who set the bus ablaze. The fire was later brought under control, they said, adding that all passengers had alighted the bus soon after the accident.
Police have arrested the bus driver and launched an investigation.
The accident took place near Kauntarpur village when the bus heading to Jammu from Jalandhar went out of control and hit the two motorcycles, dragging them for some distance, police said.
The two riders – Ranjit Singh and Arun Kumar, both residents of Kauntarpur – died on the spot, while a woman was admitted to a hospital with serious injuries. PTI CHS SMV ARI
