President Murmu addresses 1st convocation of Central Sanskrit University

'Spreading the cultural awareness available in Sanskrit language is a service to the nation,' the President said in her address.

President Droupadi Murmu Thursday addressed the first convocation of the Central Sanskrit University in New Delhi. In her speech, she highlighted the importance of the Sanskrit language and its role in Indian culture.

“Realizing the rich culture of our country unfolds a sense of pride. The heritage of our culture is preserved in the Sanskrit language. Therefore, spreading the cultural awareness available in Sanskrit language is a service to the nation,” she said.

She also noted how many Indian languages have been influenced by the vocabulary of Sanskrit and how it is spoken in different parts of the country. “It is not only the language of God but it is also the language of people,” she said.

“The number of boys and girls is almost equal in the gold medal winners in today’s convocation,” she added.

Union Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, said during the convocation,“Smt. Droupadi Murmu, who has always spoken the truth and advocated for the rights of women, has made it clear that Sanskrit is not only a language of tradition but also a language of development and identity.”
