Dehradun, Jul 24 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday directed officials to prepare a plan to minimise human-wildlife conflicts by establishing better coordination between conservation and development activities. Presiding over separate meetings of the Uttarakhand State Wildlife Board and the State-level Tiger Steering Committee, the chief minister stated that wildlife conservation is among the state government’s top priorities and emphasised strict compliance with conservation conditions in all approved projects.
He instructed officials to formulate a plan to minimise human-wildlife conflicts while ensuring better coordination between conservation efforts and development works.
Dhami directed that a Quick Response Team (QRT) be deployed to prevent such conflicts during the Haridwar Kumbh.
Reiterating his government’s commitment to balancing wildlife conservation, biodiversity enhancement, and the livelihoods of local communities, he directed officials to promote wildlife-based tourism.
He also announced that ordinary citizens who save the lives of others in man-animal conflicts would be honoured at the state level.
