PM Modi pays tribute to former Odisha CM Biju Patnaik on birth anniversary

The Prime Minister's visit to Odisha is also aimed at unveiling development projects worth more than Rs 19,600 crore in the state.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to former Chief Minister of Odisha Biju Patnaik on his birth anniversary. The Prime Minister said that Patnaik’s visionary leadership and indomitable spirit continue to inspire generations.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “I pay homage to the legendary Biju Patnaik Ji on his birth anniversary. His visionary leadership and indomitable spirit continue to inspire generations. His contributions to our nation and his unwavering commitment to development are exemplary.”The Prime Minister’s visit to Odisha is also aimed at unveiling development projects worth more than Rs 19,600 crore in the state.

On March 5, BJD party cadres organized marathons, meetings, blood donation camps, and plantation programs in all its Assembly constituencies, blocks, panchayats, and urban local bodies to commemorate the day. It is important to note that the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) was founded on December 26, 1997, and named after its leader Biju Patnaik, the father of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The BJD, led by Patnaik, has been in power in Odisha since 2000. March 5 also happens to be the birth anniversary of former chief minister Biju Patnaik, after whom the ruling BJD is named.
