New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on the Ukraine evacuations Tuesday evening – his fourth in two days – hours after heavy shelling in the city of Kharkiv killed an Indian student.

The Indian mission in Kyiv also advised citizens to leave the capital city urgently, to take trains or any other mode possible.

At this crucial time, the government is also thinking of deploying Air force planes to bring back citizens. Several C-17 aircraft may become part of ‘Operation Ganga’ — India’s rescue mission in Ukraine.

The Prime Minister also spoke to the deceased student’s family in Haveri, Karnataka.

Naveen, a final-year medical student at the Kharkiv National Medical University, was hiding with fellow students in a bunker for the past few days. The 21-year-old stepped out to buy food Tuesday morning and was killed standing in line in front of a supermarket grocery store.
