Srinagar, Apr 28 (PTI) The ruling National Conference on Tuesday said the opposition PDP’s failure to appoint a chief agent for last year’s Rajya Sabha polls for four Jammu and Kashmir seats exposed the tacit alliance between the regional party and the BJP.

“RTI reveals that the only political party in Jammu and Kashmir that did not appoint a chief agent to monitor the vote in the recently held J&K Rajya Sabha elections was the PDP. In the final results, it was therefore no surprise that the BJP secured the Rajya Sabha seat, despite not having the authorised (sic) numbers to do so,” the National Conference (NC) posted on its X handle.

The NC was commenting on the reply to an RTI application, which revealed that the PDP was the only party that did not appoint a chief agent for the Rajya Sabha polls last year.

The PDP had pledged support to the NC candidates with the stated purpose of keeping the BJP out.

However, the BJP managed to win one seat even though it did not have the required numbers, it said.

“It is now clear – not through statements by our party or political commentary, but through the Right to Information Act — that the source of the BJP’s votes has been revealed,” the NC said.

“So much for the pretentious anti-BJP rhetoric in rallies, while voting for them and ensuring they are strengthened in Parliament and the Assembly. This is a continuation of the 2014 PDP-BJP alliance,” it added. PTI MIJ ASD ASD
