Chennai, Mar 20 (PTI) Taking a jibe at AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami over his visit to the national capital, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Friday claimed that it only proves that the “election is between Tamil Nadu and Delhi”.

Stalin, who is also DMK president, sought to know why Palaniswami and his colleagues had gone to Delhi.

“Is it to get funds that are being denied for Tamil Nadu? Is it to insist on implementing the projects that remain stalled in Tamil Nadu? Is it to resolve the shortage of cooking gas cylinders? No. Not at all,” Stalin said in a statement.

Palaniswami had gone to Delhi on Thursday to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

His meeting with Shah was cordial and they discussed the political scenario in Tamil Nadu, the AIADMK chief told reporters before leaving for Chennai.

The AIADMK is heading the NDA in Tamil Nadu. BJP, PMK Anbumani (faction), AMMK are among the constituents.

Attacking the AIADMK, Stalin alleged that even to face the elections, they require the consent from Delhi.

The DMK president alleged that the AIADMK leaders have mortgaged their own party for their selfishness and would not hesitate to pawn Tamil Nadu to Delhi. The state should not be ruled by them and the DMK will never allow the dominance of Delhi, Stalin said.

Later, in a letter to party cadres, the DMK chief said that the “vengeful attitude” of the BJP government in the Centre continues to betray Tamil Nadu and, “We are fighting to ensure the state’s rights”.

“We have implemented countless achievement-oriented schemes. That is why I say that the 2026 election is between the Tamil Nadu Team and the Delhi Team,” he said.

Claiming that people believe that the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance has the strength to protect the rights of Tamil Nadu, Stalin said, “That belief was created by the Dravidian rule. Let us go to the people, let us stand in the field and achieve victory.” PTI VIJ VIJ KH
