Panaji: Only air passengers would have access to casinos at upcoming Mopa international airport in Goa, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told the Legislative Assembly on Monday.

In a written reply, Sawant stated that around 232 acres of land has been earmarked for commercial development at the airport in North Goa.

“Apart from casinos, hotels of various categories, eco-adventure and wellness resorts, as well as a shopping plaza would be constructed at the airport,” the chief minister said, adding that “casinos would be accessible only to passengers of airlines”.

The airport is scheduled to be commissioned in 2021.

Goa currently has six offshore and around a dozen onshore casinos.
