Odisha govt bars transfer of officials engaged in census exercise

Bhubaneswar, Apr 2 (PTI) With self-enumeration under Census 2027 commencing in Odisha, the state government on Thursday evening issued an order to all departments not to transfer officials engaged in the exercise till it is completed. The online self-enumeration exercise commenced on April 1.

Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Arabinda Padhee, in a letter to heads of various departments, district collectors and commissioners of municipal corporations and chief census officers, said the officials associated with the exercise should not be transferred unless there is an urgency.

The self-enumeration exercise will continue till the midnight of April 15, while the house listing operations as part of the first phase of the census, will commence across all 30 districts on April 16 and continue till May 15, officials said.

The second stage – the primary population enumeration phase – will be carried out from February 9 to February 28, 2027, with over 1 lakh trained enumerators and 17,282 supervisors visiting households and collecting data, they said. PTI AAM RBT
