New Delhi, Apr 8 (PTI) The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday said there were no grounds to recall its April 2 order staying an Assam government order to deploy around 1,600 Assam Forest Protection Force (AFPF) personnel for the assembly polls in the northeastern state.

Assam goes to polls on Thursday.

“We are of the considered view that the impugned order (of the Assam government) suffers from patent illegality…,” a bench of judicial member Arun Kumar Tyagi and expert member Ishwar Singh said.

“In view of the above, no ground for recall/modification of the interim order dated April 2, 2026, is made out, and the interim order shall continue to operate till the decision of the present original application,” the bench added. PTI MNR MNR KSS KSS
